Most review sites have never touched the products they rank. We have — because this website itself runs on the tools we review. GoScalify is hosted on Hostinger, built with Elementor, and optimized with RankMath. When we review those products, we’re reviewing our own stack, with real screenshots from real dashboards. Here’s exactly how every review on this site is produced.
1. We Buy It and Use It Ourselves
Every product we review starts the same way: with a real account, a real setup process, and real day-to-day use. We don’t review from press releases, feature lists, or other people’s screenshots.
- Real accounts. We sign up the same way you would — through the public pricing page, with our own email and payment method. We experience the onboarding flow, the upsells, and the fine print exactly as a customer does.
- Real usage periods. We don’t judge a hosting provider after ten minutes. We run actual websites on it, submit real support tickets, and live with the product long enough to find what breaks.
- Our own stack as proof. Wherever possible, we review tools we already depend on. If a product earns our recommendation, there’s a good chance it’s already running some part of this site.
2. What We Actually Measure
Opinions are cheap; measurements aren’t. Depending on the product category, our testing includes:
For web hosting
- Speed: Time-to-first-byte (TTFB) and full page load times, measured with independent tools from multiple locations — not the host’s own marketing numbers.
- Uptime: Continuous monitoring over weeks, not a 48-hour snapshot.
- Support quality: We open real tickets — including at awkward hours — and grade on response time, technical accuracy, and whether the issue actually gets resolved.
- Dashboard usability: How long does a beginner take to install WordPress, set up SSL, and create a backup? We time it.
For software and SaaS tools
- Setup friction: Time from signup to first meaningful result, documented step by step.
- Feature depth vs. marketing: We test the features the sales page brags about — especially the ones with asterisks.
- Limits and lock-in: Storage caps, seat limits, export options, cancellation flow. The things vendors hope you won’t check until month three.
3. We Read the Fine Print (So You Don’t Have To)
The most expensive sentence in software is the introductory price. Our reviews always investigate:
- Renewal pricing: What you pay in year one vs. year two and three. We calculate the true 3-year cost and show the math — this is our signature check, and it’s where most “budget” recommendations fall apart.
- Refund and cancellation terms: Money-back windows, pro-rated refunds, and how painful the cancellation process actually is.
- Resource limits: “Unlimited” rarely means unlimited. We find the real caps on storage, bandwidth, visitors, or API calls.
4. How We Score
Every full review ends with a score out of 5, built from category ratings that vary by product type. A hosting review, for example, is scored on performance, ease of use, customer support, and value for money. The overall score is our weighted judgment — not a mathematical average — because some factors matter more than others. A host with blazing speed but terrible support doesn’t deserve a 4.5.
Two rules govern every score:
- Verdict first. The conclusion opens the review, not the other way around. If you only have thirty seconds, you get the answer.
- Real cons, always. Every review lists genuine weaknesses. A review with no cons is an advertisement — and we don’t publish those.
5. We Compare Against Real Alternatives
A review in isolation is only half useful. Wherever it matters, we test or research the closest alternatives and tell you who each option is actually for — including when the answer is “not this product.” We’d rather send you to a competitor than recommend the wrong tool.
6. Our Independence Firewall
This is the part most review sites skip. Here’s ours, in full:
- Commissions never influence scores. Our ratings are finalized before we check which products have affiliate programs. A product with no affiliate program can outrank one that pays us — and has.
- We disclose everything. Every post containing affiliate links carries a clear disclosure notice near the top, before any link. Our full policy is on our Affiliate Disclosure page.
- No paid placements. We do not accept payment for reviews, for scores, or for placement in rankings. Vendors can suggest their product for review (see our Contact page), but coverage is never guaranteed and verdicts are never negotiable.
- We’d rather lose a commission than your trust. If the best product for you doesn’t pay us, we recommend it anyway and say so.
7. We Re-Test and Update
Software changes constantly — pricing, features, performance, ownership. A review written in January can be misleading by September. That’s why:
- Every review displays its last-updated date prominently.
- We periodically re-test popular products and update scores when something material changes (price hikes, major redesigns, support deterioration).
- When a product changes enough to alter our verdict, we say so explicitly in the review — we don’t quietly rewrite history.
8. Corrections
We make mistakes. When we do — a wrong price, an outdated screenshot, a misattributed feature — we correct it promptly and note the correction in the article. If you spot an error in any review, email us at info@goscalify.com. We read everything, and factual corrections get priority.
9. What We Will Never Do
- Publish a review of a product we haven’t actually used.
- Let an affiliate relationship change a score, a verdict, or a ranking.
- Present manufacturer marketing copy as our own findings.
- Hide the downsides of a product that pays us commission.
- Fake screenshots, fake test results, or fake credentials.
If you ever feel a review violates any of the above, tell us. Accountability is the whole point of this page.
